About Us

Our Mission

In response to the United States Bishops 1975 Pastoral Letter:  "The Right to a Decent Home." a group of dedicated Catholic laity, together with the Rev. Gerard Creedon, founded Catholics for Housing, Inc. (CFH) in 1979. Since its inception, CFH has been an ecumenical membership organization actively seeking opportunities to preserve, renew and expand the supply of decent, safe and affordable housing in Northern Virginia.

Coming together as people of faith, CFH is committed to working in communion with all people of good will to sponsor and support the development, construction or rehabilitation of housing projects so that permanent shelter might be more available to serve the needs of limited income families, the elderly, and the disabled.

CFH has developed and implemented a variety of programs and projects to serve the cause of affordable housing.  CFH projects include:

  • affordable home ownership initiatives.

  • affordable rental housing.

  • senior housing rental assistance subsidies in Fairfax County

  • security deposit assistance loans

  • public education and advocacy activities

  • sponsorship of a local Arlington tenant advocacy organization
