Southbridge
Ø
CFH, in collaboration with Drees Homes and Prince
William County (PWC), developed 33 town homes in the
Southbridge area of Dumfries.
Ø
These homes were sold to first time homebuyers of low
and moderate incomes.
Ø
CFH provided housing counseling.
CFH also
provided down payment and closing cost assistance
through the PWC HOME Funds.
Ø
Funds were received from the Franciscan Order and area
churches provided volunteer and monetary support.
Ø
Southbridge was selected as a HUD Best Practices
finalist at the Department’s Technical Symposium in July
1999.
Linton Hall Manor
Ø
The land was purchased from the Benedictine Sisters on
which Linton Hall Manor was developed.
Ø
On the 14+ acres, 23 single family detached lots and 19
town home lots were developed by CFH.
Ø
The 19 homeowners were selected by lottery from the 32
eligible applicants.
Ø
CFH secured funds from Prince William County as well as
Federal Home Funds that were allocated to the County.
Ø
This project required many partnerships:
o
Angler Construction completed the public improvements
and the site work.
o
Chevy Chase Bank provided the construction financing.
o
Prince William County provided both financial support and
guidance.
o
NV Homes who built the town homes and sold them at cost.
o
By October 2007, the 19 town homes were sold to Police
Officers, a Fireman, DSS case worker, a Parole Officer,
a Linton Hall teacher, a Public School Custodian and
Public School Teachers
One of the new town home owners called the opportunity
priceless
while another one call it a gift from God.
King George County
Ø
In 2010, CFH received re-zoning approval to develop 14
town homes in King George County.
Ø
By proffer agreement, the town homes will be marketed
first to County employees, including the Sheriff’s
Department and the Fire Department.
Ø
The development is proceeding; however, the finish date
is, as yet, undetermined.
Collaborative Programs
Castellani Meadows
Ø
Collaborated with Fairfax County to provide affordable
town homes.
Ø
CFH provided consultation services as well as
washer/dryer units and playground equipment.
Hatfield Square
Ø
Hatfield Square was a townhouse in Centreville that was
leased to Homestretch to provide housing for a formerly
homeless family.
Ø
CFH along with many volunteers kept this town house in
good repair.
o
Volunteers were from Marymount University, St. Mary’s of
Fairfax Knights of Columbus and the St. Charles Borromeo
Youth Group
Ø
CFH sold the property to Homestretch to allow this
program to continue.
